Glossary

The terms of Love Takes Shape: password, inventories, Hydrogen, Silicates, Oxygen, facilitating contact and more.

A and B

Letters that tell the two people apart in the texts on the houses and on the contacts between planets. The heading of each entry shows whom the planet, point or house belongs to. The description is read in that direction.

Ascendant

Linked to the first house and to the sign rising over the eastern horizon. In this approach it describes one facet of how we present ourselves and face the world. Its expressions by sign are presented under the influence of the Ascendant, and its interactions with the houses under A’s Ascendant in B’s houses.

Planetary aspect

A contact studied between two points in one chart or in the charts of two people. Its interpretation follows the rules of the system. The criteria of the first affinity introduce some contacts, and the contacts between planets develop facilitating and obstructing contacts.

Astral chart or natal chart

A representation of the positions considered according to the date, time and place of birth. It is the basis for reading inventory 2 and for the astrological comparison of the couple.

Astrological house

Each of the twelve sectors of the chart, associated with different areas of life. The texts on the houses in the couple explain how they are considered in the relationship.

Compatibility

An affinity that makes it easier to share and enjoy each other’s company. In inventory 1 it may rest on similar habits and references; in inventory 2 it is studied through the astrological contacts described. See the texts on the two inventories and on the first affinity.

Complementarity

A meeting of differences that may be attractive or bring something each person values in the other. The text on inventories 1 and 2 also explains how a difference that drew the couple together can become a source of tension.

Descendant

Linked to house 7 and to the image of a committed partner described in the first affinity. There, its coincidence with the other person’s natal sign is considered.

Incompatibility

A difference whose interaction is experienced with discomfort, rejection or a lack of harmony. Its expressions are distinguished in personal learning (inventory 1) and in the reading of the charts (inventory 2).

Inventory 1

The set of elements from one’s history and surroundings: family models, genetic inheritance, values, beliefs and learned ways of living. It is developed in the text on the two inventories.

Inventory 2

The set of characteristics the system interprets through the astral chart. It is organized into six levels, presented alongside inventory 1 and developed across the topics of this reading.

Motivations and interests

Orientations toward what each person finds stimulating or valuable. Personal, home, social and transcendent motivations are distinguished.

Mobility

A level of the system that describes rhythms and preferences of activity by distributing a score among Hydrogen, Silicates, Oxygen and Water. The procedure and the interpretations are in the text on mobility.

No relation

The absence of contact between certain factors in the charts being compared. The term refers to those specific factors; on its own it does not describe the whole bond. See the text on the two inventories.

Orb

The margin allowed around the exact angle of an aspect. The criterion applied to Venus–Venus appears in the first affinity.

Password

The first key to the reading: it brings together the positions of the Sun, the Moon and Mercury, that is, territory, fantasy and communication. Their descriptions are in the solar profiles and in the texts on the Moon and Mercury in the signs.

Position in the group

A way of taking part and placing oneself in relation to others. It covers leadership, self-motivation and adaptability, as well as their combinations in the couple.

Points and scoring

This reading uses “planetary points” as a working name. To measure mobility, motivations and position in the group, thirteen positions are considered: four receive a value of 2 and nine receive a value of 1. The total is seventeen points. The details of the weighting are in the text on mobility.

Facilitating contact and obstructing contact

The modes used to describe the contacts between planets. The first is associated with affinity or support; the second, with tension or difficulty. Each contact is interpreted together with the other factors and with the couple’s experience.

Sun sign or natal sign

The sign the Sun is in at birth. The solar profiles present the twelve signs, and the sign pairs gather their combinations.

Synastry

The comparison of two natal charts to study their interactions. The concept is introduced with the solar profiles; the first affinity, the sign pairs, the houses and the contacts between planets develop different aspects of the comparison.
