In short
Lovers has no accounts and no servers that keep what you type. The names, birth dates, times and places you enter stay on your device. Charts are worked out in your browser. Nobody else can read them, not even us.
What is kept, and where
- The synastry readings you save (the names or nicknames you type, the birth details and your notes): in your browser (IndexedDB), on this device only. You can delete them at any time.
- Your preferences: the light or dark theme, in the browser's local storage.
- The files the synastry downloads: the astronomy engine, the ephemeris for the years you compute, and the list of places that start like what you type. They are public files from this site and carry none of your data. So that the synastry and My couples work offline, the browser keeps a copy of those files and pages (Cache Storage).
- The copies you export (a
.loversfile): you keep them wherever you like. With a passphrase they are encrypted (AES-256), and nobody can open them without it, not even us. - The conversation with a person of the couple (if you use it): it is answered by an artificial intelligence model (Gemma 4 E2B) that runs on your own device, on its graphics card. What you write doesn't leave it, and the conversation isn't saved, except what you choose to save as a memory: a short summary you can correct, with the date and who the conversation was with. The story you write for each person (inventory 1) and their memories are kept with the couple, on this device, and goes into
.loverscopies, never into the QR code. The model (about 2 GB) is downloaded once from Hugging Face, the first time you agree to use it, and stays in this browser, in a copy shared with the sister sites (astromooncalendar.com). You can delete it from the conversation. - Dictating with your voice in the conversation (if you use it): the microphone is used only while you record, after you turn it on and the browser asks your permission. A voice model (Parakeet TDT 0.6B v3, by NVIDIA) turns your voice into text on your own device: the audio doesn't leave it and isn't saved, and the text waits in the conversation's box for you to check before sending. The model (about 670 MB) is downloaded once from Hugging Face, the first time you agree to use it, and stays in this browser. You can delete it from the conversation.
- Reading answers aloud (if you turn it on): it uses your own device's voices, with nothing to download. Some browsers also offer "online" voices (marked as such): with those, the answer's text is sent to the browser's speech service to be read. They are never chosen by themselves.
- The map, if you open it to pick a place: its images come from OpenStreetMap. To draw it, your browser asks them for the parts of the map you are looking at, as with any online map; we send them no names or dates. The place you mark, its time zone and the nearest town are worked out on your device.
What we don't do
- We don't use cookies.
- We don't use analytics.
- We don't sell or share data, because we never receive it.
- Names and birth details never go into a web address and never leave your device.
If you enter someone else's details
The synastry needs your partner's details. Use them with their knowledge and with respect: they stay on your device, and you can delete them whenever you like.
