Venus in Aries loves with a fear of losing affection. This system considers the position adverse: Aries is the sign opposite Libra, one of the signs Venus rules.
This interpretation sees a strong need to receive affection and to feel chosen. It may be related to an experience of abandonment, real or perceived: the parents’ separation, the distance of one of them or the arrival of a sibling may have felt like a loss of attention. It takes listening to the person’s history to know whether that experience was present and what it meant to them.
When they relate from a sense of lack, they may ask for a great deal of affection without noticing how much they receive or how much they offer. They want an exclusive place, compare the signs of affection and feel that other people get more. In this way, even a relationship where there is affection can be experienced as not enough.
Two responses illustrate this fear: “I’ll leave you before you leave me” and “I cling so tightly that I end up smothering the relationship.” In both cases, insecurity ends up bringing closer the very outcome that was feared. If the partner moves away, the person may confirm to themselves, “I knew they would leave; it always happens the same way.”
If you recognize yourself here, I recommend learning to let yourself be loved and observing where you choose from. When the choice is driven by anxiety and the need to win affection, the same unease can repeat itself.
A relationship with someone you like, who takes care of you and offers you affection, can give you room to relax, enjoy yourself and put energy into other areas of your life. It isn’t about forcing a feeling, but about recognizing the value of an affection that doesn’t require you to keep proving that you deserve it.
