After looking at affinities, differences and ways of meeting, one question remains: what do you want to do with the love that unites you? Sharing a pleasant emotion can spark projects. Sustaining them carries that meeting into the realm of decisions and everyday life.
As the starting point of this reading, I offered an image: when A and B meet, C appears, the relationship. Now we can return to it with more elements. You and your partner bring stories, desires and ways of living; the bond takes its shape in what you choose to share and in how you treat each other as you do.
In this approach I distinguish two levels of interpretation: the planets as “generators of emotions” and as “generators of events.” Almost everything I offer here works with the first. The second relates to the astrological houses and to the areas of life in which a couple seeks to carry out projects.
From emotional connection to a shared life
In a natal chart, the planetary points are distributed among the twelve sectors we call houses. Each house relates to certain matters of life. To analyze a planet from this approach, one considers both the house it occupies and the house or houses it rules, according to the rules of the system.
When comparing a couple’s charts, the contacts between those planets and their relation to the houses involved are studied. The reading seeks to recognize facilitating or obstructing possibilities in those areas. It is a more specific analysis than the general description of an emotional affinity.
Looking at those areas raises concrete questions. Why does a life together that seemed harmonious change after marriage? What happens when two people decide to combine their finances and run into difficulties they didn’t have before? Why do other couples feel their projects move forward as they consolidate their union?
Marriage and shared finances are some of the possible decisions. Perhaps you want to keep separate homes, organize your time better so you can see each other, or review the commitments of an open relationship. The project needs to answer to what the people involved in it want.
Recognizing the form of relationship you have chosen makes it possible to speak more precisely about its possibilities and its difficulties.
When discussing the contacts between planets, I also shared my personal experience of motherhood and the questions it led me to ask within this approach. I distinguish what I lived through from the interpretation I made of it. An astrological reading of an experience does not, by itself, establish its cause or allow anyone to conclude a medical impossibility.
These matters lead me to study synastry in more detail and to observe what decisions a couple makes and how they organize their shared life. A consultation within this system makes it possible to look more deeply into the particulars of each case.
To bring the reading back to your relationship, ask yourself what project you share, what each of you brings and what you need to agree on to sustain it. You can start with something close at hand: the time you want to spend together, an activity you both enjoy or a matter you have left pending. When you put it into practice, you will have a concrete experience to talk about again.
Bringing together what you have discovered
Perhaps you now recognize why a difference attracted you and later began to bother you. Or you may find words to explain an expression of affection your partner hadn’t understood. Perhaps you have discovered how much you both enjoy certain moments you had been setting aside.
Bring those observations together without reducing your partner to any single one of them. The Sun sign, the way of communicating, the rhythm of activity and the family history all meet in a real person. What each text describes separately takes on meaning when you look at how it is expressed in their life and in yours.
It also matters to distinguish what you can do from what you need to choose together. You can express a wish, listen to a response and review the way you act. A shared commitment requires the participation of those who take it on. That distinction keeps all the work of the relationship from falling on one person.
Finishing Love Takes Shape fills me with joy. It is the fruit of more than thirty years in which my professional practice and my personal and spiritual work showed me paths I wanted to share with you.
I hope this reading has opened questions you can bring into your love life. Some may help you recognize something you already enjoy; others, put words to a difficulty that kept repeating itself.
The idea that we were destined to meet does not settle a relationship. The meeting opens a possibility; everyday life gradually gives it shape. In conversations, decisions and agreements, the foundations of what we share are built.
We can let ourselves be carried along, feel that things simply happen to us and believe there is no other way to live them. We can also stop, look at what we do and take part more clearly in the choices we have. That participation needs the work of both people and the recognition of each person’s autonomy.
As you return to your relationship, I invite you to keep three tasks in mind:
- Recognize what each person brings. The astrological reading describes characteristics we can imagine as capital to invest in the relationship. Its value lies in helping us look attentively at the people we are, along with our histories and our decisions.
- Care for the meeting. Affinity and chemistry can draw us together, but they need room in the shared life. A seed needs care while it grows; in the same way, a couple’s points of connection need attention to develop. Return to what you both enjoy and talk about how to make room for it.
- Take on our part. Taking responsibility for our life and for what we bring to the bond lets us step out of the role of spectators. Each person can review their actions, express their needs and decide how they want to take part in the relationship.
Perhaps, after this reading, there will still be weekends when you want to go out and your partner would rather rest, or the other way around. My wish is that you both have more words to talk about that difference and more clarity in deciding how to live it. Love also takes shape in those small meetings, when what you feel finds a way to be lived.
In love and unity, these pages go from my heart to your heart.
